But did you know you don’t have to wait for the next Citywide Clean Up to get rid of unwanted items? The City of Fort Smith offers year-round services to help you dispose of bulky waste, household hazardous materials, and more. From curbside pickup options to drop-off locations, we make it easy to keep your home clean all year long.

Citywide Cleanup Event

Twice a year during the months of April and October (spring and fall) – the City of Fort Smith conducts a Citywide Cleanup. This effort is put forth to keep Fort Smith beautiful!

On these specific days, there will be four (4) locations, one (1) in each City Ward where manned trash dumpsters will be available on to Fort Smith residents for disposal of household trash, at no charge, during specified times.

Proof of residency is required in the form of a water bill or a valid driver’s license. Lines get long on these special days, but our staff works hard to keep things moving along, and the result is a remarkably clean Fort Smith. Join the citywide effort!

Please note we cannot accept the following items at the clean ups:

• Grass/Leaves/Brush
• Tires
• Hazardous/Toxic Waste
• Construction Debris
• Car Batteries
• Engine Oil
• Paints
• Cleaning Chemicals
• Herbicides/Pesticides
• Liquids of any kind

Fort Smith’s citywide clean up is powered in part by the Keep America Beautiful and Keep Arkansas Beautiful campaigns. These two organizations promote the citizen responsibility to build and maintain clean, green and beautiful spaces. The Solid Waste Services Department is proud to partner with this state and nation-wide initiative that continually strives toward community improvement.
