Fort Smith Transit provides transportation open to the general public within the city limits of Fort Smith. Our organization performs fixed route and origin to destination transportation services as well as a limited charter service by advance request. The fixed-route service consists of a network of buses that travel the major avenues and some residential areas within the city. All fixed-route buses are equipped with lifts for mobility devices and most routes traverse toward the downtown area once per hour to accommodate transfers as needed. Demand response or paratransit buses are available for passengers with mobility challenges that prevent access to the fixed routes or for passengers traveling to or from destinations considered outside the fixed-route network area. Transit staff is well trained and can assist you with navigating the routes, selecting optimum travel times, purchasing vouchers, or simply learning to position a mobility device on a lift or inside the bus.

          The Transit Department is continuing all transit services and is taking the following precautionary steps relating to the COVID-19 events at this time. As a part of its normal routine, the department cleans buses, facilities, and equipment by schedule, and performs routine fogging of the busses with a commercial sanitizer. The department is performing the same steps listed above as well as additional cleaning of facilities and spraying commercial disinfectant of all buses nightly.

          We encourage all passengers to practice good hygiene and social distancing where possible.
