Members of the Board of Directors are elected by the citizens of Fort Smith and serve four-year terms. Fort Smith is divided into four wards, and each ward has one representative on the Board of Directors who is a resident of that ward. Three directors are elected “at large” by all voters in the city.

Board Meetings
Regular Meetings
Regular meetings are official voting meetings of the Board of Directors where all official business is transacted. There are two regular meetings per month.
- When First and third Tuesday of each month at 6:00 PM
- Where: The Blue Lion, 101 North 2nd Street
Study Sessions
The Board of Directors holds study sessions to discuss one or more topics brought by the City Administrator or by Board members themselves. These topics may or may not become action items for the Board to vote on in regular meetings. Study sessions are not voting meetings.
- When: Second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:00PM
- Where: The Blue Lion, 101 North 2nd Street
The Board may call special meetings as necessary.
