Ben Geren Regional Park Trail System

The Ben Geren Regional Park Trail System is one of Fort Smith’s most diverse and destination-worthy outdoor amenities, offering miles of scenic trails throughout Ben Geren Regional Park. The system features a mix of paved shared-use paths and natural surface trails, giving visitors flexibility in how they explore the River Valley’s forested areas, open prairies, and rolling valley terrain.

Whether you’re running, walking, biking, or hiking, Ben Geren provides an adventurous experience with elevation changes and technical features, while still offering options for more casual outings. Along the way, visitors can enjoy lakeside views, shade tree canopies, and acres of native grass prairies.

With ample trail mileage and nearby park amenities, the Ben Geren Trail System is an ideal destination to spend a full day enjoying active recreation in one of Fort Smith’s most beloved parks. 

 

Length: Approximately 6.3 miles one-way

Difficulty: Easy/Gentle (mostly flat, multi-use trail ideal for families and casual riders).

Surface: Mixed terrain; primarily asphalt and concrete in the newer sections, with some gravel sections toward the Fort Smith Park end.

Trail Use: Multi-Use (Walking &  Biking)

Accessibility: ADA-accessible segments available
